Matthew 2:9-10 - After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.

Here we have the three wise men. And how do they spend their time? Finding Jesus.

And how do they react when they find him? “they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.”

They’re not just a bit happy. This is the most supreme find of their lives. It’s real and they’re ecstatic and overwhelmed.

And they were led by a star.

Exodus 13:21 - And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.

God led the Israelites through the Wilderness and to the Promised Land. He led the wise men to Christ. And may God lead us to himself also by allowing us to find and see Jesus more.

May we see his signs in the world, the bible, our life, others, and our spirit. May we not delay by wasting our time with things we know are trifles. For exceedingly great joy is on offer in God himself and his works. May he grant that we understand all he is and has done from beginning to end!
